WINE NEWS
Overproduction?: Bordeaux’s wine industry is navigating a major structural transition in 2026. While high-end classed growths are experiencing surging demand and soaring prices in the US, small-to-medium volume producers face overproduction crises, with nearly a quarter of estates seeking debt relief.
Booming US Demand: Despite fluctuating global trade conditions, American collectors have doubled their focus on top-tier Bordeaux wines. Château Lafite Rothschild has surged in popularity, with annual searches online nearly doubling.
Finesse in St-Émilion: Collectors and critics continue to praise a shift toward refined, fresher-styled Right Bank wines, elevating highly-rated bottles from both accessible estates and established collectibles.
Vine Removal Program: A combined €250 million French and EU government bailout is funding a definitive vine removal scheme to rebalance supply and demand. Bordeaux represents nearly half of the acreage approved to be uprooted, with participating vineyards receiving state payouts.

RESTAURANT Review
OST – 9/10
8 Rue Ausone 33000, Bordeaux
This fresh, modern styled restaurant close to the river set in an old blacksmith from the 19th century gives us stunning and inventive dishes and ensures that we feel that we are situated in someone’s lavish wine cellar. We ate the Red Mullet, Roasted Cauliflower, Monkfish and Gnocchi. All were superb and the meal was finished off with the amazing Barsac. We highly recommend eating here.
